A great BBQ recipe and Smartphone Apps

This is a great BBQ recipe and we know because they were kind enough to detail what was in the rub so we could compare it to what we've done in the past. Clearly there are some very passionate cooks in Austin!

Also, you should note that the Big Oven has come up with a combined recipe and grocery shopping application for the iPhone, iPad, Android and Windows phones. You can see a demo of the app at the link below and it's definitely worth your time!

Another BBQ Sauce Review

Although we don't carry this product, we do want to give credit for excellence. We haven't tried this ourselves but, we do like the promise of it. The really interesting part about this sauce is that it has an interesting combination of key ingredients. Those ingredients are vaguely defined but, we are told that it has hot chile(?) peppers, spicy brown mustard and ginger. I don't know about you but some taste combinations are just intriguing. The combination of hot chili's and ginger has some appeal to it. In this case the balance that is achieved between the three key items could be a very interesting taste!

Oh, and before I forget, Charcoal and More has moved to 840 S. Penn Ave, Suite C in Sellersburg, IN 47172. There is now a showroom that will allow most of the grilling supplies they have to be displayed there. See you at the BBQ Bootcamp there next weekend!!

Three Little Pigs BBQ Sauce Review

Well, this reviewer has "BBQ Sauce on the Brain" and I'm glad to know that I have company! Yes, this review was from February of this year and I was glad to finally see our sauce reviewed by someone that we have no contact with. It seems that we might have a new convert!

BTW, one of his readers asked if Three Little Pigs BBQ Sauce was "gluten free" because should couldn't tell. The "All Natural" sauce is gluten free and we expect that line of sauce will be reviewed soon because it is so important to those folks who have Celiac disease or are gluten intolerant. We'll let you know when we find out! Until then...

BBQ in Louisville KY Metro Area

We wanted to get a sense of what the online BBQ community could find when trying to get a good overview of what was happening in Louisville just by doing a search in Google. It was a bit disappointing!! The number one result was a review that was yield just by typing "BBQ" in the search line and it yield a summary that was dated 2007. So much for fresh content! The other selections in search didn't look very promising. So, we backed up and typed in "barbecue" and the results were a little better. Still, it was a disjointed collection of comment, reviews and advertisements.

It looks like there is a need for central review site for BBQ here that ranks #1 on Google and doesn't make people work hard just to get a sense of what is out there. Maybe we'll take that on? In the meantime, if you want a source of information and some really great products to make your next BBQ event the best in class, google Charcoal and More today!

Is Charlotte, NC a cultural BBQ center?

We mentioned before that there seemed to be some eyebrows raised when Michelle Obama extolled the virtues of Charlotte as being a BBQ town. Shown below you will also see that the author raises the validity of this point with the judicious use of question marks as "Barbecue? In Charlotte?"

As in most controversies, there is a lot of information that gets put out there, some good, some bad and some that is just made up! However, one of the bonuses here is that there is a book co-authored by a retired North Carolina professor, John Shelton called "Holy Smoke: The Big Book of North Carolina Barbecue." Is it worth a read? We don't know. If there is anyone out there who has read it, has it, whatever, please let us know!

T-Moldings

If you are replacing the flooring in your house, there is a pretty good chance you are going to need to buys some t-Moldings for part of your house. This is a pretty important product because it is an appearance product and it is also a "high wear" product in the flooring area. So, having the need to have products that are both function and stylish while you walk on them is a little tough.

These parts are typically more expensive so please take that time review them and to make a decision based on wear and longevity.
